This weekend kicks off the annual Big Sky Fly Fishing Festival and fundraiser for the Gallatin River Task Force. With events starting off on Friday evening and continuing through Sunday nights F3T film tour we thought you might want to be up to date on the happenings. A full schedule of events can be found below, but here are a few things you don't want to miss.
Saturday Night 7/25
Your one and only chance to bid on GRG's Jimmy "Loosewraps" Armijo-Grover for a morning of guided fly fishing and as a teammate for Sunday's "Great Gallatin Guideoff" at The Riverhouse. A silent auction and great food will help raise money for The Gallatin River Task Force. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at the Gallatin River Guides as well as on Ticket River.
From 12 to 4 pm a family-friendly outdoor festival will take place at Town Center Park. Activities will include product demonstrations, a long distance casting clinic by Dok Arvanites, a Master Casting Instructor through the International Federation of Fly Fisherman, women's casting clinics and Orvis 101 clinics hosted by Lone Mountain Ranch, booths and activities hosted by local fly shops (East Slope Outdoors, Gallatin River Guides, andGrizzly Outfitters), art and fly tying by famed Contemporary Western Artist Bern Sundell, kids activities, guided nature trips to the river, and river and trout conservation educational booths. Live music will be played all afternoon by award-winning Montana blues artist, Erik Ray.
Sunday night the F3T Fly Fishing Film Tour makes its way to Big Sky at The Lone Peak Cinema. Showcasing movies from around the world this years tour is full of movies surrounding conservation issues as well as straight up fish porn. Make sure to check out GRG shop guy Shane in Yow! Icelandic for Yes. Tickets are $20 and include a free draft beer. Showtimes are 5 and 8 pm.
