Thursday Night Fly Tying at GRG! Join us this Thursday 2/12 at 5pm to learn how to tie the Klinkhammer.
Here's a Wikepedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klinkhammer that offers a short history of the fly. As a long time fly shop employee I can say that the popularity of this fly amongst anglers in Montana has increased significantly just in the past few years. It's a great fishing pattern that is designed so the abdomen of the fly rides below the surface of the water making it more visible to trout (or other species) and is a good imitation of an emerging or crippled insect.
It is recommended that you provide your own tools and thread, and Gallatin River Guides will provide the materials. A light colored olive or tan thread in 8/0 or 70 denier is recommended.
